Portrun, also known as Portrunny, is located on the bank of Lough Rea.
Part of the Shannon network, it's a short distance from Roscommon Town (out on the N61 and left on the L2000).
It's visited by many during the summer months and is a great location for angling, boating, walking and swimmers.
Amenities include toilets and mooring. Many visitors come up the Shannon in their cruisers every year.
Portrunny also benefits from a heritage trail which includes the medieval sites of Galey Bay and castle.
